    Marketing made easy...
     

    Last fall, I joined a new virtual book club. The first book we read was ‘Get Clients NOW’, a 28-day marketing program for professionals and consultants (info about the book). As an online group, we went through the program supporting each other along the way. C.J. Hayden, the author of the book, was also available to give us guidance, feedback, and support. What a great opportunity it was!

    My program goal was to get two one-on-one coaching clients within the next 28 days and I was very energized and motivated by the possibility to actually reach my set goal! The program helped me to create a customized marketing action plan which I used for the next 28 days to market my business in a very specific and focused way. Drafting my action plan, I was forced to figure out where I was stuck in the universal marketing cycle. Hmm! Where was I stuck? Filling the pipeline? Following up? Getting presentations? Or, was it closing sales? Well, for me it was getting presentations and once I was aware of my stuck area, I was able to determine what marketing strategies to use in order to move forward. Based on the marketing strategies, I chose 10 daily things I would do every day. In addition, I selected three projects to work on that would help me to get unstuck. It felt great to actually have a marketing plan in place. Not only did I know where to start but it was also simple enough that I actually did do it! I was amazed by the effect the program had an me. I didn’t even start the actual marketing yet but already felt a change in my business. At the end of the 28-day program I was very excited; I reached my goal and it wasn’t so hard at all.

    A couple of weeks later, I met C.J. Hayden at the International Coach Federation conference. I couldn’t wait to tell her how wonderful her program is and how it helped my marketing efforts. Inspired by our conversation, I did the program again and decided to become a licensed facilitator for the ‘Get Clients NOW! program so I can support my clients better when they struggle with marketing.

    We all know that marketing is telling people what you do. However, the key is to do it over and over again! You can do it in many different ways and choose the strategies that best fit you, e.g. by phone, by e-mail, in person, or through the media. The importance is that you do it, again and again! According to market positioning expert Jack Trout, the average American is exposed to 4000 marketing messages per day. How is your message standing out? How will others remember you if they only hear about you once?

    The best ways to get more clients are networking, making contacts, following up, and referrals. It’s that simple! So, why is it that you don’t have all the clients you need? Can’t you decide where to start? Aren’t you sure how to put the pieces together? Can’t you stay motivated? If so, you’re not alone! Most people fail because they don’t use the information that is right at their fingertips.

    Now, look at your marketing efforts. How can you make it easy and fun for you? What do you like to do?
