As I am preparing to travel to Europe, I had
a chance to reflect on the past few months. I
recognized a pattern that I hadn't seen before
and I want to share it with you. I have embarked
on many 'first's' recently, and upon
reflection, many of my clients have done the
same thing. Some examples are (as unlikely as
some of them might seem):
> first time to climb up Half Dome
> first time kayaking
> first time playing baseball
> first time hiring a virtual assistant
> first time joining a biking group
> first time sky diving
> first time becoming an entrepreneur
> first time moving out of the country,
state, away from home
> first time saying NO to someone in
particular
> first time to speak in front of a large
audience
> first time allowing yourself to do what you
really want, no matter what others say
The list goes on ... It doesn't seem easy to
do something for the first time, because it is
new and unknown. We are afraid of failure, of
being rejected, of being judged. But once we
find the courage within ourselves to do it, the
rewards are phenomenal. We gain self-confidence,
self-esteem and an incredible boost in energy.
As scary as it might seem at first, the gain far
outweighs the cost. I now find myself asking:
What do I want to try next that I have never
tried before? I find it stimulating to research
the topic and add the necessary skills and tools
into my toolbox. Once I am ready and prepared,
it's a matter of trusting myself that I have
done everything in my power to do my best - and
then, with a leap of faith, I go for it! I am am
really enjoying the process as well as the
excitement of accomplishing what I set out to
do.
So, what will YOU try for the first time in
the next 30 days?
> set a long-overdue boundary?
> start learning an instrument, a sport, a
language?
> hiring someone for a task you don't want to
or don't have the time to do?
> travel someplace you have never been
before?
> join a professional group?
> buy a house, an investment property, a
partnership interest?
Just think of the possibilities.....
Congratulations to all of you have recently
tried something new. Keep up the fun!
For those of you, who are taking this to
heart and do want to try something for the first
time - I'd love to hear from you. I will publish
your ideas in my next newsletter, which can
spark new ideas in others and inspire them to go
for it! Here's a way for you to make a
difference in someone else's life - what could
be more rewarding?

Congratulations to Erica from Arizona,
who went skydiving for the very first
time this month.
She describes it as a very freeing
experience. She realizes now that she
can do pretty much anything.
Erica, you are an inspiration to us
all!

| Letters
to dbcoach about last month's coaching
currents
"Oh Dany!!!! I cried when I read
your newsletter! I so appreciate your
insights (and the newsletters!), and
have shared them with many friends. This
one though, was superb. The subject of
fear, and the reference to the toddler,
was wonderful, as I am down here in San
Diego now, taking my 0-3 yr. old
Montessori training! I must also say, I
cried at the thought of not being in
that last photo, and hope to be in on
the next one. Thank you for sharing it
so beautifully." Nancy
"Inspiring! Wow. Thanks for the
honesty."Lisa
"I found it very touching that
you thought of Carolee on your journey,
as she was someone who loved to live
life fully. It brought back a sadness to
remember her. However the memory of her,
and hearing that the ladies up at the
top of the dome gave her respect, really
gave me inspiration to not take life
lightly."Molly
Letter to dbcoach after a coaching
call
"I really enjoyed our call
today. You gave me a number of things to
work on with my team here--now I just
have to complete them.
I really appreciate the tip on
Kiplinger's. I found a general article
about hot real estate markets and also a
financial calculator to figure how much
I should be saving for retirement (now I
have to do the hard task of figuring out
what all of the numbers need to be in
each entry).Thanks." Jeff |

Quote
of the month |
 |
"There's a powerful transformative
effect when you surround yourself with
like-minded people. Peer pressure is a
great thing when it helps you accomplish
your goals instead of distracting you
from them."
